Yes. The Tanzania Education Project is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 87-3919577, and we will provide receipts for all contributions.
If you look up our EIN (87-3919577) in the IRS database or other charity directories, you may see the name "Ibumila Fund." That was our original name, after the village of Ibumila where our work began. We have since renamed the organization to the Tanzania Education Project — it is the same nonprofit, same EIN.
Donations go into a common fund rather than to individual students. Once we have raised enough to cover a child's entire educational journey, we add another student to the program. That way we never enroll a child we can't see all the way through. If you would like to sponsor a specific child, reach out and we'll talk it through with you.
Nothing. The president of the company takes no compensation. In fact, other than bank fees and $5/month website hosting, 100% of the donated money goes directly to the children.
No. There are no religous restrictions on who can be involved in TEP. Anyone is welcome.
